Oh no….. January 30, 2013

Filed under: Uncategorized — theworstat @ 5:21 pm

Been absent for a bit due to an illness in the family (I swear we’re keeping the hospitals running).  Anyway, sometimes ballet news just jumps out and bites; to illustrate, here’s some news from Pointe Magazine that isn’t exactly encouraging.  Please comment: Another New Hollywood Ballet Show

I am warning chickens everywhere to hang onto their feathers.

I hope everything is ok! I’m sorry to hear that.

This show sounds like it could be a real nightmare. I’ve had co-workers ask me if ballet is like Black Swan, and I’m only taking recreation classes!

Thanks…we’ll be okay. We were lucky for many years and I guess it just caught up with us lately.

LOL you’ve given me an idea for a post: Dysfunctional Ballet!

Wish you and family good health.

Why have a scripted show when the real ballet world is more interesting? “Underbelly of ballet world” does not bode well.

OTOH Benjamin Millipied can quit his soon to be position as AD of POB and come back to Hollywood to choreograph for the show. Then he can create publicity by saying actors did most of the actual dancing and not real dancers.

Right. I keep thinking of what happened to Ballet West in Breaking Pointe. For goodness sake, why not just follow them through a season — there’s enough drama there without trying to create any. When Hollywood tries to create drama, it always ends up having nothing in particular to do with the subject, anyway.

And LOL of course he can! We all know that anyone can learn ballet in 6 months, right? Pffft….

Thank you for the good wishes 🙂

First of all, I’m sorry to hear about your family, best wishes to you and them.

To the post: why not do something like the documentary ‘Agony and Ecstasy: A year with English National Ballet’ There was plenty of drama without having to create more…….

    • theworstat Says:

Exactly. That series had so much drama you kept coming back for more. And as far as I know, none of it was “created.”

Thank you for the good wishes.
